Some Essentials Safety Measures in Using Sauna

You should be aware of the different sauna (סאונה) safety tips so you can fully enjoy your session and avoid any sauna dangers. Sometimes, since you are so relaxed and comfortable inside a sauna, you begin to act carelessly and, as a result, you can get an injury.

For your safety, you should never wear any objects on you including your jewelry. Generally, you should be naked when inside the sauna and there's no need to bring along your mobile phones, iPods or anything at all. You should be aware that metals heat up very fast when brought inside saunas so they can burn your skin. You should remove all gadgets and accessories like bracelets, earrings, necklace, and rings before going inside.

You should not also eat before going in the sauna and while you're inside it. If you eat while you're inside the sauna (סאונה), it can make your blood pressure lower. If you do not follow this precaution, you can feel nauseous and dizzy or, worse, you might faint. Doctors do not recommend people with high blood pressure to use saunas.

Your hair should also be protected. It's safer if you're going to cover your head with a turban or towel. The heat of the sauna can result in dryness of hair shafts, and this can cause the hair to weaken and break off. You should also care for your skin by staying for only 20 minutes inside the sauna since this is the best amount of time that you can get the full benefit of sauna bathing. If you stay longer, your skin can get hurt and can cause dehydration. It is advisable that you apply a moisturizer after using the sauna.

Most importantly, you should re-hydrate yourself right away and make sure that you get cool. Do this by drinking three to four glasses of cold water after you are done in the sauna (סאונה), and by dipping in the pool or getting a cold shower.
